| South Florida REC Internship
Health Choice Network seeks Interns of various skills and
backgrounds in the areas of HIT, Health Information
Management (HIM) or EHR Systems programs to join the team
dedicated to the South Florida Regional Extension Center (SFREC) in the EHR implementation process.
Interns will gain experience and the opportunity to earn college
credit while helping providers prepare EHR adoption and
implementation projects at providers' office. These internships

participation in projects or observational opportunities
associated with project activities that are under the direction of

with necessary travel, etc. to fulfill the requirements of the

NJ State Awarded $11.4 Million Grant for Electronic Health
Records
The state will work with the health care industry to create four
regional Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) that will share
information such as lab results and medication histories among
health care providers around the state. HIEs hold the promise of
improving health care quality and efficiency by eliminating
duplicative testing, avoiding dangerous medication interactions
and providing information about patient histories with other

| Four Regional Extension Centers (RECs) in Texas to establish HIT-related apprenticeship programs to assist in training
HIT professionals. The goal of these apprenticeships is to
provide intensive, real-world training for physician practice,
clinic, and rural hospital HIT workers who have completed the
required education, but need experience. The apprenticeship programs will last 13 weeks (July 25 - October 21, 2011) and there are a total of 18 available apprenticeship positions distributed among the four RECs. Over the course of the program, the apprentice will receive $10,000 and upon successful completion will receive a certificate of completion from Texas State University.
