Awarding IT: Improving Healthcare

The HIMSS Davies Award has evolved…with new categories, criteria and an application process
Since 1994, the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence has recognized outstanding achievement in the implementation and value from health information technology, specifically EHRs. The Awards program promotes EHR adoption through sharing information and lessons learned on implementation strategies, financial return on investment and value of the EHR to improve patient care and outcomes.

Committee Applications

HIMSS opens its annual call for volunteers to serve on a committee for the 2013-2014 fiscal years. Service on a HIMSS Committee—focused on specific settings and constituencies within health IT and key industry topics, is an excellent opportunity for professional development, networking and active engagement. Committee participation is open to all individual and corporate HIMSS Members who are not serving in other leadership positions within the Society and who have been a member for at least the past 12 consecutive months. The Evolution of Excellence

The HIMSS Davies Award is evolving in new and exciting ways. Starting now, please note the following changes are in effect impacting award categories, criteria and the application process.

The award categories are: HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award (formerly Organizational) and HIMSS Ambulatory Davies Award, including independent ambulatory practices, community health organizations and enterprise clinics and HIMSS Public Health Davies Award.
Applications accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis.
Applications will be comprised of submitting five case studies for the HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award and four case studies for the HIMSS Ambulatory Davies Award
HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award applicants must have achieved either a Stage 6 or 7 on the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM scale.
