Associate, Market Research

The Market Research Associate’s primary responsibility is to evaluate, organize, initiate and manage their own data collection efforts across multiple organizations and effectively and efficiently collect data that is required to meet the product deliverable schedules.  The Associate will research each organization to understand the make-up of that organization as well as the basic corporate philosophy and determine a strategy for obtaining the annual update.  Coordinates and organizes all interview materials, correspondence, delivery system reports and determine a time schedule for completion. 

Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts preferred – the ability to think critically, develop a plan and implement a solution.  Excellent interpersonal skills – the ability to respond and work with a wide range of personality types internal and external to the organization.  Strong organizational and time management skills to achieve goals.  Telephone data collection and/or research experience.  Must be comfortable in placing outbound calls and spending considerable percentage of time collecting information over the telephone.  Strong writing skills.  Self-starter who takes initiative and can creatively find solutions independently.

Healthcare Information Service

Sr. Director, HIS

Primary responsibilities include project management for all global and national enterprise information systems projects and activities, with accountability for financial and operational success.  Launch the Societies’ Personal Health Information Systems initiative developing goals, objectives and projects necessary for a dynamic new HIMSS content area.  Staff liaison to the Enterprise and Personal Health Record Steering Committee, with responsibility for timely and accurate communication with their members.  Engagement with the HIMSS Advocacy Team as well as behind-the-scenes writing to ensure HIMSS enterprise initiatives are incorporated into federal and state public policy.  Develop and execute HIMSS strategic and tactical activities related to enterprise information systems and personal health records in collaboration with the Vice President of Healthcare information Systems.  Developing and implementing outreach, marketing, and communications plans in collaboration with HIMSS Service departments appropriate for the enterprise and personal health initiatives.  Develop and initiate content (presentations, publications, communications, and analyses) for the HIMSS advocacy team, executive team, and HIMSS service departments related to the enterprise and personal health initiatives in support of HIMSS goals and objectives.  Analyzes competitive threats, recommends counter measures for such threats, and executes those measures that are approved.  Represent HIMSS to external entities, attending industry meetings and events, serving as the HIMSS representative and has authority to speak on behalf of HIMSS.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors with Masters in healthcare information technology, healthcare management, informatics, or related field.  Minimum of 8 years experience in healthcare information technology with at least 5 years experience in healthcare management with an understanding of  acute healthcare and the healthcare environment,  enterprise organizations, information systems lifecycle, barriers to adoption of HIT , systems and standards development, information technology, integration and interoperability, business information systems, and business efficiencies.  Highly efficient mastery of IT/communication applications including Outlook (mail and cross-time-zone scheduling), Word (polished documents), Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and web-based collaboration tools.  Strengths in problem solving, analytical and abstract thinking, ability to implement projects using strong leadership skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience with public speaking and industry publications.  Ability to work effectively in both independent and team-based situations with co-workers, volunteers and other organizations.  Enthusiasm for testing new initiatives in the marketplace.

Healthcare Organizational Services

Director, HCOS

Primary Responsibilities include contributing to the strategic growth of HIMSS by increasing Organizational Affiliate member revenue.  Identify and prioritize potential Organizational Affiliates to ensure they are aware and taking advantage of benefits and opportunities.  Pursue, engage and retain those organizations as active participants in HIMSS initiatives.  Direct the establishment of policies and practices for Organizational Affiliates. Develop and execute HIMSS strategic and tactical activities to meet departmental objectives. Develop and implement outreach, marketing, and communications plans. Identify Organizational Affiliates’ needs and develop and execute programs to attract new members and retain existing members, including benefits refinement, positioning and pricing.  Develop and maintain strong and deep CIO/C-Suite relationships with Organizational Affiliates to assess service and program needs.  Act as liaison between Organizational Affiliates and HIMSS executive staff.  Obtain cooperation with other staff in the organization to fulfill Organizational Affiliates’ requests.  Work with the VP, HCOS and HCOS Account Manager to design and develop tools and reports for tracking and management of Organizational Affiliates.  Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department.  Perform all duties as assigned to achieve HIMSS goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters Degree.  Must have a minimum of seven (7) years experience in the HIT industry.  Senior level account management experience.  Related experience in sales or customer relationship management.  Existing network and relationships with HIT organizations and executive.  Strong communication skills (written and verbal).  Strong decision-making, problem solving, creativity, and negotiating skills.  Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and the ability to build trust and confidence with executive level staff.  Good organizational, time management and project management skills.  Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and execute new programs targeting executive-level customers.  Have a full understanding of all HIMSS professional initiatives.

Director – Marketing and Business Development, HIMSS Europe, Brussels

The Director of Marketing and Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing conference marketing and sales programs within Europe. Specific responsibilities include creation of marketing strategy, marketing messaging and direct management of the production of marketing materials, including website and communications. Business development responsibilities include negotiation of marketing partnerships with media and related organizations and the coordination of all sales efforts.

Other assignments include: Management of vendors responsible for creative services including graphic design, marketing writing, printing and the posting of marketing materials. Oversight of website and electronic communications development (newsletters, e-pushes, etc.). Oversight of press relations, media partnership development, and advertising strategy. Equip and motivate a virtual sales force to ensure targets for conference exhibition and sponsorship are achieved. Liaise with key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in the European eHealth community. Provide strategic direction for business and market development; market research and planning; promotion and advertising; resource allocation/management, and fiscal management.

Requirements: A Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, marketing, communication or equivalent experience. A minimum of five years experience in relevant fields and a demonstrated record of accomplishments in conference and exhibition marketing. General knowledge of the healthcare information technology industry is an asset. Command of English and French (or Flemish). Knowledge of other major European languages is an asset. Ability to represent HIMSS Europe in external speaking engagements. Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and judgment. Ability to work effectively as an accomplished leader, inspiring staff and others to be fully engaged in the vision, mission and goals. HIMSS Foundation/Dorenfest Institute Internship

Internship

The primary responsibilities of this internship is to coordinate new Database awareness and outreach programs.  Processes Database access applications ensuring accuracy.  Prepares summary reports based on data stored within the Institute.  Maintains applicant database files.  Prepares quarterly and annual Database usage reports.  Troubleshoots service issues and provides resolution using independent discretion and in accordance with HIMSS requirements.  Documents service issues in accordance with established procedures.  Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the Dorenfest Institute.  All duties as assigned to achieve the goals and objectives of the Dorenfest Institute.

Requirements: Currently working towards Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate in a healthcare IT related program.  Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Information Technology

Database Developer, Chicago

The Database Administrator’s primary responsibility is to provide hands-on support in the design and development of all Relational Database Management Systems. This includes all development, staging and production database servers and applications. Responsible for SQL Server 2000 installations including setup, configuration and service pack and hot fix installation. Applying knowledge of the latest enterprise security concepts to production systems. Managing database performance optimization and capacity planning and look for tuning opportunities. Installing and configuring SQL Server software onto new servers and upgrade existing SQL Server software to newer versions and/or Service Pack Levels. Maintaining database security, integrity, and availability. Setting up and monitoring alerts, operators, SQL Mail, linked server connections, DTS packages, and scheduled jobs that perform specific database tasks. Assisting with the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from disparate sources and ensure its integrity. Interface with the IS Infrastructure team for hardware upgrades and builds. Administering periodic backups of databases and transaction logs. Developing and maintaining database recovery plan. Collaborating with developers on creating, debugging and deploying Stored Procedures, Custom DTS Jobs, tables, indexes, triggers etc. Creating automated TSQL scripts to process summary database transactions that run off-hours. Running ad-hoc reports from the databases. Creating, Monitoring and managing the periodic EXCEL spreadsheets that deliver data to the various business owners.

Requirements: A Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience is required. 3-5+ years of Database Administration experience with SQL Server 2005 is preferred. 5 years DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 in an operations environment. Experience supporting and implementing complex logical database designs and relational database concepts. A minimum of 3 years Transact SQL experience with an advanced ability to analyze and architect data and data models/schema. Candidates should also have 5 years of SQL Server administrative experience including managing multiple database servers. Data modeling experience (ERWIN) or equivalent preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Effective analyst able to work closely with non-technical users. Previous experience in a professional society, trade association or healthcare management preferred. Ability to explain complex subjects to the audience with wide variety of technical skills. TIMSS Specialist, Chicago

Analysis & Maintenance: Work with staff and managers from various departments to identify opportunities for extending core systems to better meet the ongoing needs of the organization.  Make recommendations on changes to systems and processes based on requirements gathering and workflow changes.  Develop plans for merging, integrating, converting data from disparate systems into core systems.  Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies require change or where new ones need to be developed. Incorporates necessary changes as needed and communicates changes to users.  Work with Database Developer to identify system configuration/setup for future rollouts.  Implement and test desired configurations in a test environment.  Review and analyze requests for configuration/setup changes to production environment.  Document approval or denial and communicates impact with requestor.  Review requests for security access changes and performs impact analysis.  Obtain authorization from appropriate management staff and incorporate requests.  Create new security groups and assigns users accordingly for future department rollouts.

Support: Act as a functional expert for AMS.  Work with systems staff to identify and correct problems with electronic workflow, data processing, and transactions.
Document all issues and resolutions related to new module implementation and support activities.  Act as a senior support analyst for enterprise applications and data systems.  Assist in troubleshooting and technical system support.  Review reported issues and resolve internally when possible.  Identify issues which require vendor support, submissions to vendor and monitors timely resolution.  Provide weekly and monthly status reports defining support requests and their solutions.

Data Integrity: Work with key stakeholders in various departments to develop, implement and lead data auditing plans for each department.  Work to define key data consistency issues, developing plans to review data entry, establish quality control methodologies for use on enterprise data systems.  Assist Director of App Development and CIO in advocating for the correct usage of enterprise data systems.  Works closely with DBA to streamline information processing and data validation and normalization.  Recommends changes to workflow and processing plans to ensure data quality and consistency.  Lead association wide data quality awareness efforts.  Work with Dir of App Dev and other depts. to document all data integrity policies, procedures, and issue resolution to build the organization’s data integrity knowledgebase.  Work with the HIMSS staff to maintain the Data Integrity Policy and Standard Operating Procedures library.

Reports/Ad Hoc Queries: Work with App Dev Team & BIA to develop internal and external reports from organization wide data systems.  Work with staff and management from all departments to define standard data formats based on the organization Data Dictionary and Style Guide.  Meets with staff and management from all departments to identify, clarify, or define reporting needs and ensures that reporting requirements are translated into usable information output.  Works with the BIA & App dev Team to meet the day to day need for ad hoc data requests and data export files in a timely matter.  Documents all report and query definitions, source code and other relevant data for long-term analysis.  Collaborates with end users on data output needs and assists with documenting specifications.  Develops reports/queries based on specifications.  Creates Views for Ad Hoc Query tool and reporting needs.

Training: Provides training to end users on the use of enterprise applications and related policies and procedures.  Works with various levels of staff to identify training opportunities.   Develop of training materials.

Requirements: Bachelors degree with minimum 5 years experience as an applications/data analyst.  Minimum 2 years experience in serving as a level-2 support on an enterprise software application.  Experience in creating and executing unit test plans.  Experience in to creating End User Acceptances tests.  TIMSS / association management system expertise; Customer Relationship Management software experience may also be valid.  Ability to glean requirements & use cases from end-users be driven by the desire to achieve measurable, specific results within tight time frames.  Analytical ability and problem solving-mentality; Ability to take the initiative to solve problems, Familiarity with software development life cycle, quality initiatives and process improvements in database management systems; information mapping methodologies, system integration and testing.  Ability to work well within a team, Commitment to excellence in customer service Detail oriented, well organized& attention to detail. Must have a mentality to find “bugs” in software applications.  Solid experience in being a Level 2 support engineer for a an enterprise wide application. Awareness of business process reengineering and management analysis techniques.  Associates degree/certification in Business Process analysis.

The Vice President of Marketing’s primary responsibility is to plan, design and oversee implementation of marketing plans that are consistent with and in support of HIMSS’ mission, goals, and objectives.  Ensures that the HIMSS brand is consistent, in compliance and evolves as the HIT market changes.  Developing a system for each product line to identify and define the current market and to continually identify future potential markets.  Provide leadership and expertise by developing and managing a marketing team to deliver the necessary marketing strategies and tactics.  Collaborates with senior staff to conduct market research and recommends strategies and tactics as required.

Coordinator, Marketing

Primary Responsibilities include assisting in the project management of over 400 deliverables a year, including, but not limited to direct mail, eMail, advertising, branding, interactive media, print production, etc.  Spear-head the coordination of business development projects in support of business development revenue goals.  Assist marketing managers with targeted list segmentation for email campaigns which include approximately over 20 campaigns consisting of over 200 individual emails.  Serve as a traffic coordinator for all marketing deliverables – route pieces to stakeholders for approval; help manage production schedules; and work load of department.  Serve as a marketing information specialist – creating and managing  an organizational system (central depository) for all marketing materials such as PowerPoint templates, logos, bios, marketing materials, etc.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in marketing, communications, or journalism. High aptitude for technology.  Minimum three years in a corporate, or agency environment.  Strong communications skills – both verbal and written.  Very strong organizational skills for managing deadlines and information.  Understanding of marketing strategy and implementation.  Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment.
