Sr. Manager, Public Policy - Arlington, VA
This purpose of this position is to develop and execute the media relations/public relations plan and strategies for HIMSS’ Government Relations activities and provides PR counsel to staff as needed. This person also develops a wide variety of content to meet the Government Relations staffs’ needs such as e-newsletters, speeches, informational documents, letters to Congress and the administration, and other communications related to public policy initiatives. This person updates and maintains the Advocacy Web site content and works with the Web Services team to make design and navigation changes as appropriate. This includes the development and execution of media relations strategy for HIMSS’ advocacy and public policy initiatives in Washington, D.C.; coordinate with HIMSS central office as appropriate. Serve as primary contact with the media regarding public policy issues; write press releases and media alerts; answer reporters’ questions and schedule interviews with management staff, content experts and board members; establish contacts with key business and trade press to build strategic and ongoing relationships; and identify and educate journalists on healthcare IT issues. Provide PR counsel to Government Relations staff as needed. Develop editorial calendar and write and edit all content for the assigned e-newsletters, in particular, the HIMSS Pulse on Public Policy and HIELights. Develop and execute public relations plans for Government Relations events such as Advocacy Day and the Public Policy Forum; develop content such as the Advocacy News for those events, and prepare fact sheets and other appropriate Government Relations materials for the Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition. Arrange for photography services at appropriate Government Relations events. Assist with the development and execution of National Health IT Week. Provide regular reports of activities to VP, Communications; coordinate media activities with the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications. Work in close collaboration with VP, Government Relations, and Government Relations department on assigned duties.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in communications, journalism or English, or equivalent experience. Minimum of five years of related work experience. Exceptional writing and editing skills. Associate, Market Research - Chicago
The Market Research Associate’s primary responsibility is to evaluate, organize, initiate and manage their own data collection efforts across multiple organizations and effectively and efficiently collect data that is required to meet the product deliverable schedules. The Associate will research each organization to understand the make-up of that organization as well as the basic corporate philosophy and determine a strategy for obtaining the annual update. Coordinates and organizes all interview materials, correspondence, delivery system reports and determine a time schedule for completion.

The primary responsibilities of this internship is to coordinate new Database awareness and outreach programs. Processes Database access applications ensuring accuracy. Prepares summary reports based on data stored within the Institute. Maintains applicant database files. Prepares quarterly and annual Database usage reports. Troubleshoots service issues and provides resolution using independent discretion and in accordance with HIMSS requirements. Documents service issues in accordance with established procedures. Manager, Informatics, Global Interoperability Showcases
This manager will attend, manage and coordinate all U.S. and Global Showcase activities including communication/marketing, scenarios, exhibition, schedules, technical document editing/publication, agendas, minutes, rosters, web postings, and other communication along with facilitating meetings, conference calls and implementation of projects and related deliverables. The manager will also support, in tandem with other staff including technical project managers or retained consultants, other global showcases and demonstrations.

Client Systems Engineer - Chicago
The primary purpose of this role is to provide an “engineer” level set of skills and experience to focus on the client (workstation/laptop) systems in the organization, thereby insuring systems are properly architected, configured and maintained on a regular basis. HIMSS staff relies heavily on computer systems running at their highest level of performance possible. Where IT Service Desk staff focuses on break-fix, end-user requests, end-user training and ad-hoc support, (and) IT Systems Engineers focus on servers, networks, and enterprise applications, the Client Systems Engineer will focus on managing end-user systems such as laptops, desktops and their associated applications. In a limited fashion, this role will also backfill for Systems Engineers when they are out of the office or unavailable. This position will also be an escalation point for the HIMSS Service Desk and will be responsible for responding to, troubleshooting and resolving computer, VPN and telephony related issues. Additionally, the Client Systems Engineer must maintain accurate and up-to-date systems and process documentation related to all areas of direct responsibility. This role will also be expected to maintain a minimum of 97% SLA achievement as measured in the Service Desk tracking system.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, computer science or management information systems concentration preferred. Must have a minimum 5 years professional experience working in a structured IT environment, focused in either an engineering role or senior level systems administrator role and a minimum 3 years designing, building and maintaining laptop and desktop software images. Microsoft XP or Server OS product certification required. Program Coordinator, Meeting Services
Primary resource for annual conference coordination of attendee services at the Annual HIMSS Conference, World of Health Information Technology, Summit Conference, and other Society events as assigned by Meeting Service Manager and Vice President of Meeting Services. Facilitate coordination and interaction of Society staff, volunteers, cosponsors, and product and service vendors to ensure successful events. Primary point of contact for all department customer service inquiries (annual conference questions, etc.) Responsible for day-to-day registration management and operations for annual conference, GHIT and smaller meetings. Provide support to managers for hotel contract negotiation and administration. Support Annual Conference logistics, meetings, F&B and special events as assigned. Coordinate and support all logistics for small meetings as assigned, including researching site venues, Request for Proposal process, negotiating and finalizing venue contracts. Evaluate proposals and prepare comparative analysis. Coordinate and support designated exhibit services projects pre-conference and onsite. All duties as assigned to achieve HIMSS goals and objectives. Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience in related field. Strong written and communication skills and knowledge of computer programs/technology. Account Executive, Provider Services
The purpose of this position is to generate sales and achieve revenue objectives for the Organizational Affiliate Program. The Provider Services Account Executive is HIMSS primary contact with new prospects. This individual is responsible for promoting and selling of assigned services, such as: Organizational Affiliate Program, which is a program focused primarily at healthcare provider organizations in which participation allows them to maximize benefits provided by HIMSS; Other provider-based products and services as designated for both HIMSS and HIMSS Analytics. This includes aggressively soliciting new customers by telemarketing and formulating follow up plans. Find and qualify prospects, present a value proposition, submit approved price quotes/proposals and contracts to close the business. This requires that the position develop and maintain keen understanding of overall product dynamics, market trends, competitor features and consumer rationale. Be alert to competitive organizations, services and share with management. Prepare sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with company procedures and instructions. Assist in developing sales forecasts, territory potentials and call programs. Maintain up-to-date notes on calls and sales activities in Salesforce.com. Submit any special reports regarding the operation of assigned accounts. Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions and tradeshows, as directed. Develop accurate knowledge of the buying and selling methodologies and practices of accounts in order to tailor individual sales approaches for each account.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Four or more years of successful sales or marketing experience. Ability to work independently to achieve specific goals.
