Our Mission and Goals

The data in healthcare organizations, payer’s and pharmaceutical organizations is spread across a number of systems (e.g., encounters, labs, pharmacy, membership, finance, claims, billing, etc.). Clinical Business Intelligence solutions extract data from these systems into a centralized, secure, historical repository, for the purpose of making better clinical decisions within and across healthcare settings.

HIMSS believes that the future success of our members will be in their ability to be able to understand, and form partnerships to manage Clinical Business Intelligence as a part of doing business and providing accountable and quality care to their members.

The HIMSS Clinical Business Intelligence Committee will be responsible for creating thought leadership, resources, tools and support the needs of our members and the healthcare industry. Our areas of focus will address the role of Health IT and Information Technologies in supporting the effective management of Clinical Business Intelligence. Topics of focus for the Clinical Business Intelligence Committee will include:

  • Knowledge Management to support accountable and quality care
  • Case Management
  • Analytics
  • Informatics
  • Decision Support
  • Research Data Warehousing / EDW
  • Data Lifecycle Management
