The Department of Health and Human Services (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT) is scheduled to release notices of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for Meaningful Use Stage 2 and the Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria in February 2012.
HIT Standards Committee Sets Out 2012 Work Plan
The Health IT Standards Committee held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 25th. Dr. Doug Fridsma of ONC reviewed the committee’s proposed work plan, adding a few new items, including a discussion of Section 1561 of the ACA, regarding electronic eligibility and enrollment.
