The HIMSS calculator assumes your hospital will be able to demonstrate "meaningful use of certified EHR technology" within the timelines established by the Act - FY11 through FY15. To be eligible for some portion of a Medicare incentive, a hospital must be able to demonstrate meaningful use commencing no later than FY15. Using language directly from the Act, HIMSS enables you to understand the definition of meaningful use and certified EHR technology.
