Tool/Resource of the Month:
RCM White Paper

Justifying the use—and cost—of information technology systems can be a big challenge for providers. Justification for revenue cycle management (RCM) information systems can be easier than clinical systems, as these systems impact the provider’s revenue stream and the organization’s financial health. The white paper Revenue Cycle Management: A Life Cycle Approach provides an overview of the revenue cycle life cycle and begins exploration of best practice metrics. A work product of the HIMSS 2009 Revenue Cycle Management Task Force, this white paper explores identified stages in the RCM life cycle encompassing the entire patient encounter process. The life cycle is divided by category of activities, with each category described in detail.
