Please Join ONC for Listening Sessions at HIMSS16

ONC looks forward to connecting with health care IT stakeholders across the industry and will be hosting a number of listening sessions on a wide range of topics from Privacy and Security, Standards, Nursing Informatics, and Consumer Engagement. The full schedule can be found on ONC’s dedicated HIMSS page. Following is a sample of a few sessions:

  • Tuesday, March 1
    • Privacy and Security, 3:00pm - 4:00pm, ONC Room 4602, Speaker: Lucia Savage, ONC Chief Privacy Officer
      • Join ONC’s Chief Privacy Officer for a discussion on privacy and security in the app enabled world. This listening session will focus on privacy and security issues that arise from the expanding use of smart phones and mobile technologies by individuals to access health data and manage their health.
  • Wednesday, March 2
    • Nursing Informatics, 11:30am - 12:30pm, ONC Room 4602, Speaker: Rebecca Freeman, ONC Chief Nursing Officer
      • Join ONC Chief Nursing Officer Rebecca Freeman for a discussion on nursing informatics. Topics may include key industry issues related to data blocking, system and data interoperability, and usability for care team members as well as governance, informatics structures, and cultural barriers to adoption.
    • Consumer, 3:00pm - 4:00pm, ONC Room 4602, Speakers: Lana Moriarty, Director, Office of Consumer eHealth; Elise Sweeny Anthony, J.D., Acting Director, Office of Policy
      • Join ONC for a listening session on trends regarding consumers’ access and use of their electronic health information. The session will discuss the current context around patient engagement, including ONC rules and initiatives underway to improve consumer access and sharing of health information.
