In February, a bipartisan group of Senators and Representatives introduced the Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act (H.R. 4442 and S. 2484). The legislation, which reflects many of the recommendations included in HIMSS’ 2015 Congressional Ask #3 – Expand Access to Telehealth Services for Medicare Beneficiaries, seeks to modernize healthcare delivery for Medicare beneficiaries by removing barriers to the use of telehealth and other healthcare technologies, including remote patient monitoring (RPM). HIMSS, along with over 50 other stakeholder organizations, pledged support for the legislation when it was originally introduced.
While the bill has strong support on and off Capitol Hill, it still faces an uphill battle in Congress. We need your help to continue building support. Please “take action” by visiting the HIMSS Legislative Action Center today to send a letter to your Senators and Representatives asking them to cosponsor this important legislation and help to ensure these critical reforms are enacted into law.
