Mari Greenberger

Senior Director, Informatics

Mari Greenberger is the Senior Director of Informatics for HIMSS, a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information and technology.

In this role she executes and directs all Health Information Exchange (HIE), standards, and interoperability initiatives including HIMSS Global Interoperability Showcases. This also includes content initiatives, related projects, policy comments, and activities. The area’s content scope is HIE, blockchain and interoperability volunteer activities and initiatives. She also oversees the creation and development of strategic goals, annual tactics and annual budgets.

Greenberger began working for HIMSS in 2006, where she served as a member of the Government Relations team in Washington D.C., where she worked with the Advocacy and Public Policy Community and Congressional Affairs. Greenberger then transitioned to the Professional Development team where she worked with subject matter experts to build out programming for the HIMSS North America Annual Conference, now the HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition. In 2019, Greenberger was promoted from director to senior director of the Informatics team, which is a part of the Technology and Innovation division of HIMSS.

Prior to rejoining HIMSS in 2014 as a member of the Informatics team, Greenberger was a part of the initial planning, launching and implementation for the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange, where she served as principal liaison and relationship manager between metropolitan Chicago stakeholders and leadership, the State of Illinois, regional HIE leadership, Illinois Regional Extension Centers (RECs) and other stakeholders. Greenberger has experience contributing to the strategic direction of program development and implementation for large-scale national improvement projects preventing healthcare associated infections while working for the Health Research and Educational Trust at the American Hospital Association.

In 2017, Greenberger received the honor of being named one of Association Forum and USAE’s Forty Under 40®. This prestigious program recognizes 40 accomplished association or non-profit professionals who are under the age of 40, demonstrate high potential for continued success in leadership roles and exhibit a strong passion for - and commitment to - the association management and nonprofit industries.
