HIMSS’ first health IT workforce survey examines hiring trends and barriers for healthcare providers and IT vendors. The report, based on a survey of 224 executives, provides insights on healthcare providers and IT vendors’ hiring plans for 2013, current health IT jobs and staff, and recruitment and retention tactics.

- One-third of healthcare providers had to place an IT initiative on hold due to staffing shortages
- 76% of healthcare providers currently outsource a service rather than hiring directly
