Position Purpose

Consider joining the talented staff at HIMSS as our Account Executive as we transform health through information technology. The purpose of this position is to generate and achieve revenue objectives for specific products, programs, and services. The incumbent is HIMSS Analytics’ primary contact for new prospects or renewals. He or she is responsible for promoting and selling of all HIMSS analytics products and services in accordance with approved sales policies and programs and representing HIMSS Analytics in accordance with its policies, maintaining an awareness of competitive conditions and reporting them back to management and making the revenue goals assigned to them.  He or she initiates and maintains continuing sales relationships with approved new prospects calling on them in a regular and consistent manner. He or she is also responsible for achieving their sales and objectives in his or her assigned area.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Responsible for achieving revenue goals.
  • Aggressively solicit customers by telemarketing and formulate follow up plans.  Find and qualify prospects, gather information about prospects, conduct webcasts, present a value proposition, understand company policy and procedures and explanations, and submit price quotes and proposals. Negotiate proposals, and take the order.
  • Work with manager to recommend sales and marketing programs for increasing revenue and profit.
  • Develop and maintain keen understanding of overall product dynamics, market trends, competitor features and consumer rationale.
  • Be alert to competitive products and share with management.
  • Prepare sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with company procedures and instructions.
  • Assist in developing sales forecasts, territory potentials, workload anises, call programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date notes on calls and sales activities in salesforce.com.
  • Submit any special reports regarding the operation of assigned area.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions and tradeshows, as directed.
  • Actively read health trade journals to keep up on the activities of the market and to learn more about healthcare IT.
  • Develop accurate knowledge of the buying and selling methodologies and practices of accounts in order to tailor individual sales approaches for each account.
  • All duties as assigned to support achievement of HIMSS Analytics Strategic Plan goals and objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of Two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Understand the process or art of selling.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Four or more years of successful sales experience.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve specific goals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare IT industry.
  • Skilled in using current office technology and sales tracking systems.
  • Good oral & written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret results.
  • Knowledge of the industry is desirable.
  • Goal oriented, and driven to succeed
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Background or knowledge in information systems and technology is an asset
