Position Purpose

MobiHealthNews (MHN) is the leading source for news, commentary, events and research for those working in digital health. For almost eight years now we have tracked the health tech policies, technologies, and trends important to our readers, which include healthcare systems and other providers, payers, pharmaceutical companies, medtech, investors, startups and other healthcare organizations. Our work has been quoted in a wide variety of consumer and business publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, BBC, and TechCrunch.

As our Associate Editor, MobiHealthNews you will be responsible for assisting the Editor-in-Chief in growing the websites, e-newsletters and Assist in all tasks required to have a successful publication, including proof-reading, research, HTML coding, social media promotional activities, and writing original content. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with a proven analytical bent, strong writing skills, and the ability to dig in on day one. The candidate will have between 1-3 years of experience. Ability to produce multiple stories per day on tight deadlines is a must. Liberal arts degree a plus. In-depth knowledge of technology and/or healthcare topics a plus.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Research new stories by reading competitive publications and news releases from organizations in the field.

  • Perform research, such as interviewing prospective article subjects by phone or through email.

  • Proof-read and copyedit content prepared for publication by others. Review content for readability and accuracy.

  • Write original articles based on research and interviews; Post articles into content management systems.

  • General editorial administration, such as answering reader inquiries and reviewing web metrics.

  • Propose article ideas that will help to grow the audience size and engagement.

  • Check accuracy of online links on website and E-newsletters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Media, Journalism, Communications, or Financial Services, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience preparing written communications for professionals in an online media format.
  • Superior writing ability: demonstrated success in writing original content.
  • Proficiency in using digital media and social media.
  • Understanding of financial and accounting basics.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Proficiency in database management & marketing automation Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Knowledge of HTML, SEO, Google Analytics and marketing strategies beyond email.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
