Position Purpose

Consider joining the talented staff at HIMSS Media as our Associate Editor, MobiHealthNews. HIMSS Media is a media group exclusively focused on healthcare and technology markets. Through its suite of market-leading brands, such as Healthcare IT News, Healthcare Finance News, and MobiHealthNews, HIMSS Media delivers news, analysis and must have information to an audience of senior healthcare and technology influencers. HIMSS Media is also the leading producer of important live events, such as the Privacy & Security Forum, Patient Engagement Summit, Revenue Cycle Solutions Summit and Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum.

As our Associate Editor, MobiHealthNews you will act as both a reporter and editor, producing content for the MobiHealthNews's Website and email newsletter. The Associate Editor assists in all tasks required to have a successful publication, including writing and reporting original content, proof-reading, research, newsgathering, and social media promotional activities.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Write original articles based on research and interviews; post articles into content management systems.
  • Research new stories by reading competitive publications and news releases from organizations in the field.
  • Proof-read and copyedit content prepared for publication by others. Review content for readability and accuracy.
  • General editorial administration, such as answering reader inquiries and reviewing web metrics.
  • Propose article ideas that will help to grow the audience size and engagement.
  • Check accuracy of online links on website and E-newsletters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Media, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience preparing written communications for professionals in an online media format.
  • Superior writing ability: demonstrated success in writing original content.
  • Proficiency in using digital media and social media.
  • Understanding of financial and accounting basics.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Knowledge of HTML, SEO, Google Analytics and marketing strategies beyond email.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
