Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is the overall project management and execution of IHE USA activities including secretary to the IHE USA Board, managing IHE USA’s committees, participation program, and mission critical initiatives. Responsibilities include managing the IHE USA website, database, project plans, deliverables, annual contracts, temporary staff and the participation program operations, marketing, recruitment and application process. This position manages all deadlines and deliverables for the IHE North American (NA) Connectathon event project plan to ensure success of event. The Associate Manager is responsible for managing domain project managers, supporting the testing project plan, test session configuration and system registration. This position also supports all IHE activities for the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase TM at the HIMSS U.S. Annual Conference and Exhibition.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Manage planning and execution of IHE NA Connectathon. Develop and manage full system and badge registration, contracting and invoicing process. Ensure coordination of Connectathon and HIMSS Interoperability ShowcaseTM contracts, and participant guidelines. Responsible for targeted recruitment campaign to secure contracts from vendor participants for the IHE NA Connectathon; provides support for all vendor technical, financial, contractual and logistical questions. Provides sales support for Connectathon system and badge registration and HIMSS Interoperability Showcase to meet IHE USA’s annual revenue goals.
  • Manage team of contractors, volunteers, and staff to ensure NA Connectathon project plans and IHE USA’s goals are met; coordinates logistics, planning and integration of additional programs taking place at the IHE NA Connectathon including educational programs, alternate testing/certification activities and the student volunteer program. Ensure IHE NA Connectathon policies and procedures are adhered to throughout the planning cycle and execution on-site. Manages marketing plan and distributes deliverables; supports content development. Develop post Connectathon analysis including cost analysis, financial reports, and evaluations. Submit recommendations to management.
  • Implement and manage IHE USA Committees (Implementation, Testing, Tools, & Certification, and Education) and Workgroup activities and other mission critical IHE Project-based initiatives. Coordinate marketing and develop content to translate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Oversee IHE USA’s testing services including internet based testing and IHE USA’s role in the IHE International Conformity Assessment program.
  • Manage IHE USA Operational Projects. Execute development and publication of content, graphics and redesign of the IHE USA web site.
  • Support IHE activities for the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase at the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information technology, healthcare management, informatics, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with health information technology interoperability.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience working with health information technology.
  • Project management experience required
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment
  • Highly efficient mastery of IT including highly efficient use of test management software and registration management software (Gazelle, Jira, Cvent)
  • Strengths in problem solving, abstract thinking, and demonstrated ability to manage and successfully implement complex projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience with public speaking and ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Highly efficient mastery of IT/communication applications including Microsoft Project, Outlook (mail and cross-time-zone scheduling), Word (polished documents), Excel (reporting and project management), PowerPoint, SharePoint, social media and web-based collaboration tools such as wikis
  • Experience with delivery of timely, high quality customer service and effective communication to customers, collaborators, volunteers and co-workers highly desirable
