Position Purpose

Consider joining the talented staff at HIMSS Analytics as our Sales Account Executive.  HIMSS Analytics is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).  HIMSS Analytics is a global healthcare advisor, providing guidance and market intelligence solutions that move the industry forward with insight to enable better health through the use of IT.  As a trusted healthcare research and advisory firm, the industry depends on HIMSS Analytics’ resources, benchmarks, predictive models and assessment tools to improve decision making regarding their IT strategic roadmap.

As our Sales Account Executive, you will generate and achieve revenue objectives for specific products, programs, and services. This role is HIMSS Analytics’ primary contact for new prospects. This position will be responsible for making revenue goals by promoting and selling all of HIMSS Analytics products and services in accordance with approved sales policies and programs.  The successful candidate will maintain an awareness of competitive conditions and report back to management.  They will initiate and maintain continuing sales relationships with approved new prospects calling on them on a regular and consistent manner. He or she is also responsible for achieving revenue goals in his or her assigned area.


Primary Accountabilities

  • Responsible for achieving revenue goals.
  • Aggressively solicit new customers by telemarketing and formulating follow up plans.  Find and qualify prospects, gather information about prospects, conduct webcasts, present a value proposition, understand company policy and procedures and explanations, and submit price quotes and proposals. Negotiate proposals, and take the order.
  • Work with manager to recommend sales and marketing programs for increasing revenue and profit.
  • Develop and maintain keen understanding of overall product dynamics, market trends, competitor features and consumer rationale.
  • Be alert to competitive products and share with management.
  • Prepare sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with company procedures and instructions.
  • Assist in developing sales forecasts, territory potentials, and call programs.

  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions and tradeshows, as directed.
  • Actively read health trade journals to keep up on the activities of the market and to learn more about healthcare IT.
  • Develop accurate knowledge of the buying and selling methodologies and practices of accounts in order to tailor individual sales approaches for each account.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department and to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of Two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Understand the process or art of selling.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve specific goals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in using current office technology and sales tracking systems.
  • Ability to interpret results.
  • Goal oriented, and driven to succeed
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Background or knowledge in information systems and technology is an asset
