Sales Development Representative

Position Purpose

Consider joining the talented staff at HIMSS as our Sales Development Respresentative as we transform health through information technology. The purpose of this position is to support the sales team in generating and achieving revenue objectives for specific products, programs, and services. The Sales Development Representative is HIMSS Analytics’ initial contact with new prospects. He or she is responsible for contacting prospective customers, generating leads, qualifying incoming leads, and setting up sales meetings for sales staff. The incumbent is responsible for promoting all HIMSS Analytics products and services in accordance with approved sales policies and programs and representing HIMSS Analytics in accordance with its policies.  He or she initiates contact with new prospects calling on them in a regular and consistent manner. He or she is also responsible for scheduling demos.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Aggressively solicit new customers by telemarketing and formulating follow up plans.
  • Find and qualify prospects, gather information about prospects, conduct webcasts, present a value proposition, understand company policy and procedures and explanations, and schedule demos and/or meetings with sales staff
  • Support the achievement of revenue goals by generating leads via cold calling, and qualifying leads generated through marketing activities via follow-up calls.
  • Maintain up-to-date notes on calls and sales activities in salesforce.com.
  • Work with manager to recommend sales and marketing programs for increasing revenue and profit.
  • Develop and maintain keen understanding of overall product dynamics, market trends, competitor features and consumer rationale.
  • Prepare sales audits and analyses of present and prospective customers in accordance with company procedures and instructions.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions and tradeshows, as directed.
  • Actively read health trade journals to keep up on the activities of the market and to learn more about healthcare IT.
  • Develop accurate knowledge of the buying and selling methodologies and practices of accounts in order to tailor individual sales approaches for each account.
  • Understand the process or art of selling.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of Two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Ability to be effective at making cold calls; ability to make large volume of phone calls
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to articulate and to sell ideas and concepts
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare preferred
  • Customer focused with assertive, self-confident personality
  • Superior planning skills, both strategic and tactical
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Background or knowledge in information systems and technology is an asset
