Position Purpose

As our Sr. Manager, Research, you will provide direction, leadership and management of custom market research engagements, ensuring client’s overall satisfaction with engagement on deliverables. This role is responsible for establishing relationships with clients, the development of work plans for proposals for sales support functions, developing and managing engagement timelines, monitoring engagement progress, analysis of primary market research data, development of final deliverables and participating in final presentations to client. Assists and advises the HIMSS Analytics sales team members in matters related to research methodology, policy development, internal controls and project management. Works in close cooperation with related departments and external service providers to ensure engagement goals are achieved and the client’s expectations are satisfied

Primary Accountabilities

  • Participates in activities related to the execution of research engagements.
  • Leads and contributes to discussions with prospects, clients and team members to develop and/or to supervise the development of work plans (project scope and cost) and proposals that address the specific needs of the customer.
  • Consults with HIMSS Executives and Directors and provides direction, assists in developing budget, and provides support as needed for all involved client engagements.
  • Assists Senior Leadership as needed and directs special projects and client requests to fulfill obligations to clients.
  • Evaluates and recommends enhancements to current approaches, participates in marketing campaigns and works with the HIMSS Analytics to evaluate effectiveness of each.
  • Evolves client deliverable artifacts to address market needs and expectations. Maintains the customer satisfaction loop for all Research programs. Provides quarterly updates to the team, or immediate feedback as needed. 
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department and to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.
  • Guides and mentors new researchers to help them acclimate to HIMSS Analytics research processes, interactions with clients, and deliverable preparations.
  • Assists with team activities during HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition. Responsible for ensuring that all employees reporting to them directly or indirectly understand the importance of complying with the internal control objectives of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in 5-7 field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience in healthcare IT management or healthcare consulting.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Effective listener.
  • Ability to articulate and to sell ideas and concepts.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Strong personal integrity.
  • Previous experience in a professional society, trade association or healthcare management.
  • Customer focused with assertive, self-confident personality.
  • Superior planning skills, both strategic and tactical.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Background or knowledge in information systems and technology is an asset.
