Position Purpose

Consider joining the talented staff at HIMSS Media as our Senior Manager, Learning Center. HIMSS Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). HIMSS Media is a media group exclusively on healthcare and technology markets. Through its suite of market-leading brands, such as Healthcare IT News, Healthcare Finance News, and MobiHealthNews, HIMSS Media delivers news, analysis and must have information to an audience of senior healthcare and technology influencers. HIMSS Media is also the leading producer of important live events, such as the Privacy & Security Forum, Patient Engagement Summit, Revenue Cycle Solutions Summit and Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum.

As our Sr. Manager, Learning Center, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the HIMSS Learning Center and providing leadership to grow the revenue, audience size and prestige of the service. This position plays a central role in providing professional development for current and potential HIMSS members. The specific duties include ensuring that HIMSS Media meets the deliverables on client-service orders, and produces webinars to high standards. The emphasis in the future will be to align Learning Center activities with the media BU’s strategic goals: grow audience participation in the center through imaginative program development by collaborating with stakeholders in Media (editorial, sales, audience development) and within the HIMSS organization at large. The position needs to work with audience development and marketing to ensure audience growth and participation and that the products are effectively packaged and explained to internal stakeholders and external customers. Especially, work closely with designated revenue leaders to provide sales with effective assistance, either in the form of sales presentations or written materials to ensure they have everything needed to sell the products.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Program and speaker development, including recruitment of new subject-matter experts and evaluation of current speakers.
  • Sales enablement, including creation of materials that can be used in the sales process and attendance at client meetings.
  • Day-to-day supervision of the virtual event production team and coordination with external suppliers of virtual events technology to ensure virtual events are delivered at high standards
  • Audience development: refining strategy for hitting goals for individual webinars and overall Learning Center membership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in a field related to digital media field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience or production of professional education in digital media.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Effective listener.
  • Ability to articulate and to sell ideas and concepts.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Strong personal integrity.
  • Previous experience in a professional society, trade association or healthcare management.
  • Customer focused with assertive, self-confident personality.
  • Superior planning skills, both strategic and tactical.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Proficiency in virtual event management platforms such as InXpo and WebEx.
  • Experience in digital media Business-to-Business marketing, especially email marketing.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare technology marketplace.
  • Leadership skills to effectively supervise and lead team members.
  • Strong verbal communication skills or knowledge in information systems and technology is an asset.
