Annually, HIMSS surveys its individual members for their perceptions, opinions and attitudes on their membership experience. The main objective for conducting an annual survey is to help HIMSS understand how members feel about their membership and create actionable items that improve the HIMSS member experience.
The overall results from the 2014 HIMSS membership survey are extremely positive. Compared to previous years, more members are satisfied with HIMSS services and products and respondents continue to record a high likelihood to recommend HIMSS to a friend or colleague. The 2014 survey received 1,864 member responses. 58% of those members were female, 41% were male with the remaining 1% choosing to not respond. The average age of survey participants was 51 years of age.
Worksite and Professional Roles
The majority of respondents report working for a healthcare provider with 11% reporting a "systems analysts" role.
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, members reported a satisfaction level of 8.02 - the highest recorded score since 2009.
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, members reported a likelihood of recommending HIMSS to a colleague at 8.31 - toping the high of 8.3 in 2013 and 2011.
Reasons to Join and Renew Membership
Members report joining HIMSS for a variety of reasons with education and professional development the clear favorite. Those reasons remain the top reasons for making a decision to renew.
Satistaction - Products and Services
Respondents reported high levels of satisfaction for each of the top five reasons to join or renew membership. On a scale of 1 to 7 with 7 being the highest rating, each category exceeed an average rating of 5.5.
