VP/Deputy CFO – Chicago

We currently have an opening for a Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for comprehensive financial and auditing activities.  Directs activities for reviewing and appraising the soundness adequacy, compliance and cost effectiveness of operational financial controls and audits. Establishes and implements work standards and procedures for the inspection and appraisal of financial and operational records and controls. Prepares audit reports and makes recommendations to improve internal controls, business processes and financial accounting. Develops strategic initiatives and transforms initiatives into action plans, directs relationship with external audit organization and the successful planning and execution of the external annual audit plan.

In this position, you will:

  1. Be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports to management and the integrity of the financial data for the organization.
  2. Defines, assesses and leads external audit priorities; directing the audit planning and internal preparations by the finance department throughout the year, serving as liaison with the senior external audit team, ensuring an efficient audit with desired results, planning, directing and overseeing corrective action in response to any audit management letter comments.
  3. Determines internal audit priorities and executes audit plans and programs; develops and maintains tracking and reporting systems for internal audit findings and corrective actions.   Effectively communicates findings, including efficiency opportunities, to senior management and process owners and ensuring that any material internal weakness detected receives high priority status and is addressed in a timely manner. Directs financial compliance of the commission policy of the organization.
  4. Oversees the documentation and implementation of appropriate and cost effective procedures and policies within the Finance department; assures organization wide compliance with financial policies.
  5. Directs the risk management strategies (property and casualty and workers compensation) of the organization, including the selection and engagement of outside insurance broker firms and other consultants; has overall responsibility for determining the types and dollar value of insurance coverages required for best practices as well as statutory compliance.
  6. Acts as compliance and review officer for ORCA and government contract and subcontract proposal review for the organization, ensuring federal regulatory compliance.
  7. Directs the treasury function including overseeing cash flow for the organization in order to meet both working capital and long term reserve objectives. Reviews cash control procedures and monitors safeguarding of assets.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting;  MS or MBA preferred; CPA Required.
  2. A minimum 5 yrs audit experience (public accounting) with a minimum of 10 years experience accounting/auditing. Prior experience in managing staff is required.

Technical Architect - Chicago

HIMSS has an opening for a dynamic Technical Architect. The purpose of this position is to apply standard software development best practices to ensure HIMSS applications are designed, developed & maintained at a high degree of quality; liaise with stakeholders & offshore & onsite developers to ensure technical implementation strategy is set, understood and executed. Primary Accountabilities:

The purpose of this position is to generate and achieve revenue objectives for specific products, programs, and services. Responsible for promoting and selling HIMSS products and services such as corporate memberships and organizational affiliates, as well as a variety of event and non-event sponsorships.  Following approved sales policies and programs, the position will professionally represent HIMSS to potential and current customers. Position Purpose:

HIMSS has a fantastic opportunity on our HIMSS Analytics Sales Team. We currently have an opening for a Human Resources Generalist.  In this role, you will administer employee health, welfare and retirement plans organization-wide including: 401(k) Plan, Money Purchase Plan, medical/dental, basic and optional life, short-term disability, long-term disability, workers' compensation, leave of absences, Flexible Spending Accounts, etc.  Communicate benefit information to employees and respond to employee requests for information.  Review required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.  Assist with annual open enrollment period. Sr. Manager, Interoperability & Standards

The purpose of this position is to manage all initiatives, collaborations, goals, strategies, resources, research, position statements, comments, strategic relationships and budget activities for the Interoperability & Standards content area at HIMSS. The scope of the position includes executing strategic activities, projects and collaborations relating to interoperability and standards. The reason why the major functions are done at HIMSS is to reinforce and expand HIMSS leadership role to ensure the widespread adoption and implementation of standards-based interoperable systems in the healthcare environment.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Execute tactical day-to-day activities and annual operating budget for the HIMSS Interoperability & Standards (I&S) content area that further the adoption, implementation and effective use of standards-based interoperable health IT solutions.
  • Provide comments and develop positions on interoperability and standards topics in conjunction with HIMSS members and the Board of Directors. Coordinate responses to interoperability and standards comment periods on behalf of HIMSS.  Compile HIMSS response to interoperability/standards-related comment periods and HIMSS position statements.
  • Serve as I&S primary staff liaison to HIMSS internal teams, the I&S volunteer groups, Standards Development Organizations and to external organizations including HL7, ISO, IEEE, US TAG, SDO Charter Organization (SCO), IHTSDO, Continua, and many others.
  • Develop and execute the HIMSS-branded tools and Toolkits to include implementation and “How To” guides, white papers, podcasts and other materials as needed to meet HIMSS global strategic standards & interoperability objectives.
  • Manage production and develop regular communications and collateral to include newsletters [Standards Insight], content for the HIMSS Insider and other communications channels.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information technology, healthcare management, informatics, and/or related field experience required or equivalent experience; Masters in healthcare information/management systems or Informatics Certification desired;

Position Purpose:

HIMSS has an exciting opportunity for a qualified candidate to join its Senior Management team.  The Vice President of Marketing & Public Relations is responsible for providing strategic direction for all marketing activities.  This includes the development and implementation of the Society’s marketing strategies to support programs, products and services to all audiences in North American and select international markets with a budget over $1.2 million.  These audiences include, but are not limited to, executives in healthcare provider organizations and corporate entities engaged in HIT, clinicians, IT professionals and management engineers, and legislators and policymakers.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Participates in strategic planning and budgeting meetings to achieve HIMSS annual and long-term objectives.

Sr. Director, Clinical & Business Intelligence

HIMSS has a new position for which it is now seeking to fill on our Market Research team. The purpose of this new position is the creation and operation of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). This position is responsible for developing a funding research program within HIMSS Analytics focused on these topics and for creating and executing this program. This position assumes financial responsibility, accountability, and project management, making day-to-day decisions necessary to achieve the approved strategic and tactical activities for this area within the budget guidelines.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Develops and executes HIMSS strategic and tactical activities for all clinical and business intelligence.  Develops initiatives and works with other HIMSS staff to achieve business unit goals.
  • Conducts secondary research.
  •  Develops primary research data collection tools (e.g., interview guides, survey questionnaires); conducts primary research interviews with technology end users and suppliers (e.g., interviews, analysis of survey responses); solicits and attends vendor product briefings.
  • Generates ideas for research offerings and creates and articulates the value proposition of the research to sponsoring organizations.  Authoring research program deliverables (e.g., writing research reports and newsletter articles; preparing webinar and other presentation materials).
  • Hosts and conducts webinars. Presents and speaks at local and national events such as national conferences and local HIMSS chapter meetings.
  • Client contact – provides consulting and advisory services.
  • Business development and supporting sales of research program deliverables.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees reporting to them directly or indirectly understand the importance of complying with the internal control objectives of the organization.

Qualifications:

HIMSS has a great opportunity on our Sales Team.  The Director, Sales responsible for the development and implementation of the HIMSS Media Group sales strategies of its products, programs and services for HIMSS vendor events.  The sales focus is on a group of products including sponsorships, exhibit space, and other products and services.  Works in close cooperation with related departments and the marketing function to ensure sales goals are achieved and customer’s needs are satisfied.  Acts as a direct interface with high level client and national organization representatives.

The successful candidate:

  • Sells products such as custom events, sponsorships, exhibit space to companies.
  • Develops new products and benefit structure. Leads acceptance of new products for the division.
  • Drives processes, identifies milestones and creates collaborative teams.  Maintains relationships with client executives and presents new sales products for review.
  • Creates compelling sales strategies, approaches and communication to secure business.
  • Develops annual budget. Establishes and attains sales goals by annually working with the related staff and support departments such as marketing.  Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.  Manage staff and contractors to achieve sales goals.
  • Develops and manages support of account management and new business portfolio including market analysis and alignment for accounts, product strategy, account targeting strategies as well as financial objectives and measurement.
  • Develops lead generation strategy. Maintains accurate records concerning leads and contacts in Society’s database. Ensures that each customer’s profile is maintained within the Society’s database.
  • Provides regular reports and analysis of sales revenues and expenses.  Provides regular reports concerning trends within each of the product lines.
  • Develops agreements and value proposition for all media partnerships. Directs staff to fulfill and execute agreements.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of successful and progressive experience in sales and account management with experience in trade show or event sales. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing the sales process and achieving sales goals.
  • Highly developed and seasoned skills in consultative selling, selling intangible products, ability to bundle products and services.
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare IT industry and mobile technologies helpful
  • Ability to work independently to achieve specific goals.
  • Customer focused with assertive, self-confident personality
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.  Effective listener.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.  Strong personal integrity
  • Use of industry experience to identify, understand and address issues and dynamics in the healthcare and association environments.
  • Strong skills in: Development of account strategies, revenue forecasting, project management
  • Proficient in PC based applications (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to travel.
