Purpose:
The purpose of the Financial Systems Steering Committee is to identify and promote the effective use of financial and administrative systems for healthcare practices and facilities including the interoperability and integration of these systems within the overall healthcare enterprise. Specific focus is placed on revenue cycle management and regulatory compliance with HIPAA transaction code sets Version 5010 and ICD-10. This Committee supports the HIMSS Advocacy activities in monitoring legislative, regulatory and industry issues in electronic financial/administrative transactions and related emerging trends. Targeted constituency representation for the Committee includes providers, payers, clearing houses, software/service vendors, consultants and financial institutions.

Purpose: This is a collaborative sub-committee between the HIMSS’ Financial Systems and Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes content areas. The Sub-committee will build upon the HIMSS FY09 workgroup effort that compiled an industry environmental assessment of current quality and price reporting initiatives that will be published in fall of 2009. The FY10 work effort will include a white paper focused on strategic leveraging of HIT and a potential data model(s) for quality/price reporting with emphasis on ARRA reporting requirements.
