Bioinformatics and Genomic Information

As defined by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, bioinformatics is the "field of science in which biology, computer science and information technology merge to form a single discipline" (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). With significant advances in understanding the human genome and the discovery of new biological insights, bioinformatics brings together the the analysis and interpretation of the wide array of data that is made possible at the intersection of computational sciences and biological research.
