2. Writing to Win! Application Tips & Tricks

A great way to understand the Davies Awards and their scope is to learn from previous recipients of the awards. Below you will find the winning manuscripts for winning applicants across three Davies categories from the past years:

The final application is evaluated along four themes:

  1. Management-the organizational aspects of EHR implementation; strategy, planning, project management and governance;
  2. Functionality-delivered by the EHR to meet the organizational objectives and the needs of patients and end-users;
  3. Technology-technical design and architecture that enable the EHR to deliver the required functionality and performance;
  4. Value-concrete return on investment as well as intrinsic value derived from the implementation of the EHR

For hospitals and health system. Submit the Threshold Application electronically as a .PDF by Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Ambulatory

For independent ambulatory physician practices. Submit the application by e-mail
by Friday, April 30, 2010.

Public Health

Any federal, state, local, tribal, or non-profit public health program that improves the health of a defined community through health information management. Application deadline for 2010 is Friday, April 16, 2010.

CHO

Davies Community Health Organization. Provide primary medical care with an open-door policy to underserved populations. The application deadline for the 2010 Davies CHO Award is Friday, May 14, 2010.
