Karen RheubanTelemedicine technologies have matured in the past decade and caregivers and patients alike are reaping the benefits of the advancements. However, telemedicine is still a complex area with many programs and definitions to understand. To shed some light on the benefits and current state of telemedicine, HIMSS and the American Medical Association partnered to host Dr. Karen Rheuban, Professor of Pediatrics, Senior Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education, and Director of the University of Virginia Center for Telehealth to answer some of the more challenging questions around telemedicine.

Addendum: Since recording this episode, the American Telemedicine Association announced that additional states have signed telemedicine parity laws bringing the total to 27 states and the District of Columbia.
