Turn Data into Action
Stephen Blackwelder, PhD
Chief Analytics Officer, Duke Health
While some organizations are fortunate enough to have a centralized analytics team with top-down mission and vision, many of us need to bring order to a wide variety of empowered data and analytics teams distributed throughout the organization.
Issues of governance, data access, provenance and quality, and operational standards take on paramount importance in such an environment. As business customers have more choices for filling analytics needs in a distributed environment, attracting and retaining internal customers can also be challenging.
In this C&BI Community session, we’ll see how a well-constructed central analytics team can serve as an analytics “hub,” improving the quality and efficiency of the organization’s information-driven decision making.
In the beginning, there was governance. By definition there are too many good projects—learn how not to be forced to prioritize them.
Become invaluable. How teams can partner with internal “analytics competitors” to advance the enterprise’s analytics maturity.
No heroes. What it takes for a team to be greater than the sum of its parts—and to deliver more value than a crowd of lone developers!
