The CAHIMS Online Review Course- Part 3

The CAHIMS Review Course is an excellent source of an emerging health IT body of knowledge that spans three broad knowledge categories involving each and every topic areas in CAHIMS.

This live, instructor-led,  online Review Course, consisting of 4 sessions (2-hour per session), will provide a highly interactive and fast-paced detailed overview of these competency areas by supplementing tools and resources from a variety of sources to aid in the knowledge transfer process.

Program:

CAHIMS Body of Knowledge: Part 2: An Overview of the Implementation Development Life Cycle (System Design, Analysis, Selection, Implementation, Support & Maintenance; Testing, and Evaluation)

As the second of a two-part series, this third session will introduce the attendee to the various components required to support and maintain those who use software applications in a healthcare setting.

Learning Objectives:

1) Describe the challenges and opportunities of software support
2) Identify the components of software maintenance as related to the healthcare environment
3) Create awareness of the many challenges of the implementation development life cycle

Instructor:

Ruth Bowen

Ms. Bowen is a Health Information Technology professional with broad experience in clinical and financial systems. She is also an educator who has developed curriculum and training that facilitates the use of technology that has the potential to improve clinical and financial outcomes in healthcare. Ms. Bowen’s experience includes various roles at Siemens Health Services in Business and Product Line Management. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Camden Community College and has successfully taught courses developed by Office of the National Coordinator as part of national initiative to train students for entry into technical positions related to EMR adoption.

Ms. Bowen has an MBA with a concentration in Health Administration. She holds credentials in Health Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), and Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). She is also a certified instructor who teaches the CPHIMS Review Course and serves as an Editor for AHIMA’s online journal, Perspectives In Healthcare Information.
