One of the most frequent complaints CIOs share is that healthcare practitioners do not know the key elements of project management, or IT development, implementation or maintenance; and, their IT managers do not know the specifics of the healthcare business practices needed to make IT implementations effective and compliant. This session presents the results from a statewide collaboration between the Virginia Chapter of HIMSS and the four state Project Management Institute (PMI) chapters undertaken in 2015 to develop and field a cross-training program for health IT project managers and healthcare practitioners. Learn how to leverage publicly available materials to create training programs in your organization and how to form partnerships that deliver results. Presented by Cherie Pardue (Cherie.pardue@gmail.com) and Richard G. Verrill, MPA, FHIMSS, FACHE, CPHIMS, PMP, PfMP (rgverrill@aol.com).
