HIMSS LTPAC Roundtable - The Challenges of Care Coordination Involving Behavioral Health Data: A Panel Discussion

Nov 15, 2016 2:00pm - 3:00pm CST

Sharing behavioral health data across the care continuum is an essential piece to patient-centered care and there is an increasing urgency to support and meet the needs of this population. This free Roundtable webinar addresses the varied challenges clinicians, health systems and HIEs face in sharing behavioral health data across the healthcare eco-system, as well as the approaches used to successfully exchange the data. Our panelists will discuss recommendations that key stakeholder groups, from the federal government to EHR/HIE vendors, can take to make sharing behavioral health data a reality.

Learning Objectives

  • Illustrate the importance of sharing behavioral health data to meet the strictures of Value-based Payment or Managed Care Organization-run coordinated care programs.

  • Recognize the need to build awareness for acute and non-acute care providers to incorporate behavioral health data into their ongoing data exchange efforts.

  • Describe the barriers, both perceived and real, related to sharing behavioral health data across the care continuum.

  • Analyze existing incentives to help promote behavioral health data sharing with acute care providers.

  • Evaluate how to align incentives to ensure better integration of behavioral health information across all healthcare settings.
