But the process of integrating realtime reanalysis of raw genomic data into an EMR environment can impact real-time performance and run into regulatory restrictions. An effective implementation requires the maintenance of an up-to-date knowledgebase containing current clinical knowledge.
When NorthShore University Health System launched its pharmacogenomics program, it built a solution that solves problems related to real-time reanalysis and updates to the knowledgebase, making it possible for the system to maintain and reanalyze genomic data. The solution involves in-house development leveraging resources at multiple partners including the Broad Institute and the Mayo Clinic.
