Strong leadership, policy development and the constant evolution of information technology in the health arena are the cornerstones of success in healthcare information management. Championing health IT initiatives within an organization requires skill, determination, experience, and knowledge necessary for individual or population health improvements and overall enhanced quality of life. Externally, these same skillsets, and more, are needed to positively influence and enhance health IT public policy initiatives. These women change makers will illustrate how one can advocate for policy change and outline from their experience the critical success factors needed to demonstrate leadership in practice to shape the national health IT landscape.
