Certification Review Materials

HIMSS offers a range of free and paid review materials for the CAHIMS and CPHIMS exams.

Candidate Handbooks

A detailed content outline that breaks down structure and subject matter for each exam is located in the candidate handbooks. After reviewing the outline, HIMSS recommends that you focus your study on tasks that you do not perform regularly or with which you are not familiar.

Learning Plans

The Review Course Learning Plan is a resource for someone who is completing a self-paced exam preparation or it can also be coupled with any of our online or in person review courses. The learning plan is intended to guide the learner to resources that are helpful throughout the preparation process as well as help determine a scheduled approach.

  • Describe our review courses.
  • Identify the learning objectives of our review courses.
  • Identify resources that will aide in an exam candidate's preparation.
  • Establish a weekly schedule including the topic(s) covered along with resources/assignments aligned with that particular topic.

Competency Gap Assessments

The HIMSS Competency Gap Assessment will help you determine your readiness for the CAHIMS or CPHIMS certification exam. It can also help you identify personal strengths and areas for growth to support your professional development objectives and help you acquire or strengthen skills and competencies required for success as a 21st century healthcare information technology leader.
