The Effect of Education on Portal Personal Health Record Use

This presentation will give the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Task Force Series Webinar attendees an insight into evidence-based portal personal health record research. Imke Casey, DNP, CRNA, RHIT is a health information technology instructor at Lake-Sumter State College in Clermont, Florida. Dr. Casey obtained a Master of Nursing in the clinical specialty nurse anesthesia in 1999 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in nursing informatics in 2015. She has been a clinical consultant mostly leading process improvement activities related to clinical workflow, clinical information systems, clinical software, and the Electronic Medical Record. 

This webinar discusses the following objectives:

  1. Explore efforts to promote portal personal health record use among chronically ill adult primary care patients
  2. Describe factors that enhance portal personal health record adoption
  3. Discuss the effect of education on portal personal health record use
  4. Evaluate the need for portal personal health record education kiosks at clinical practice sites.
