This presentation will provide an overview of EMR implementation for meaningful data analysis. Dr. Rachelle Van Winkle, DNP, RN, is a Hospital Program Surveyor for the Joint Commission. Prior to joining the Joint Commission, Dr. Van Winkle held various leadership positions in two large academic medical systems and a community hospital. Her background is primarily in Maternal Child (ante/intra/postpartum and levels I & II nurseries) in addition to Infection Prevention, Education, and Case Management. Her particular area of expertise includes evidence-based practice, policy development, system standardization, and EMR implementation for meaningful data analysis.

  1. Deduce the effectiveness EMR implementation and the quality of data obtained.
  2. Determine the ease of use and the user compliance.  
  3. Determine if the intent of the EMR design was fulfilled based on the ability to analyze data meaningfully.
