Employee engagement in the change management and adoption process was a significant component of the MultiCare Connect program. Our leadership was committed to supporting the change and preparing staff. Staff members and providers were involved in the design of new workflows and frequently educated about system functionality to create buy-in. In addition, they had an opportunity to validate the workflows at formal validation sessions, our Workflow Walkthrough demonstrations and our Tunnel Tour workflow display events. Just before our CPOE and clinical documentation implementation, practice rooms with computers linked to a training environment were used to allow staff members time to become comfortable with the new system and process changes.
