2017 Regional Events for NHIT Week

Congratulations to the Colorado, Delaware Valley, Greater Illinois, Louisiana, and New Jersey Chapters of HIMSS, who accepted the challenge to conduct regional and statewide meetings during National Health IT Week, October 2–6, 2017.  
These chapters will highlight health IT practices and legislation that promote HIMSS’s overarching goal of better health through IT during National Health IT Week activities.  

Southern Region: The Louisiana Chapter will join forces with the Louisiana Department of Health at the Second Annual Connect Louisiana Educational Symposium on October 3 in Baton Rouge at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. The Louisiana Chapter will also join the Louisiana Hospital Association, Louisiana Medical Society and Louisiana Tech University to conduct an opioid “hackathon” in conjunction with the conference. Keynote speakers for the conference are both former Louisiana State Officials and National Coordinators for Health Information Technology, Karen DeSalvo, MD and Vindell Washington, MD.

Eastern Region: The Delaware Valley and New Jersey Chapters will hold their National Health IT Week events during their 10th Annual Fall Conference on October 4–6 in Atlantic City, New Jersey at Harrah’s Resort and Casino. A networking reception will precede the conference on Wednesday evening, and Thursday includes a packed schedule of keynote presentations and five educational track sessions. The conference will celebrate 10 years of health IT collaboration, leadership and learning.

Midwest Region: The Greater Illinois Chapter will hold its National Health IT Week event on October 5 in Chicago at the Catalyst Ranch-West Loop. The event will focus on trends in payer/provider collaboration, along with pharmaceutical challenges and the critical role of IT as a change agent. Bring your thoughts and questions for an interactive, insightful discussion with an esteemed panel of experts from payer and provider organizations.

Western Region: The Colorado Chapter will hold its National Health IT Week event on October 5 at the Denver Art Museum. This gathering will showcase leaders of and movement in health IT across Colorado, as well as how the Colorado Chapter intends to serve its members in 2017–18.
