HIMSS is proud to acknowledge the 2015 HIMSS Chapter Advocate of the Year, Lee Castonguay, President of the Hawaii-Alaska Chapter!
Mr. Castonguay brings over 30 years of experience in health information systems serving Hawaii and the Pacific Basin. As a Health IT Consultant for the HHIE’s Regional Extension Center, he helped physicians in selecting, implementing and meeting Meaningful Use criteria with their EMR systems. He also served as a Policy Analyst developing policies and procedures for the Hawai‘i Health information Exchange. Prior to HHIE he worked at the Telecommunications and Information Policy Group at the University of Hawai‘i, where he provided project management for the implementation of EMR systems at clinics and hospitals. He currently has been active in providing private consulting services, mostly with helping various hospitals and insurers become compliant with HIPAA regulations.
Because of Lee’s advocacy efforts and leadership, the Hawaii-Alaska Chapter has been at the forefront of leading change in healthcare IT. Lee’s efforts to establish productive relationships with federal and state elected officials have been extremely fruitful as evidenced by several major achievements, including his work with the Hawaii Governor’s Office and state legislators to establish an annual Hawaii HIT Day as well as the state proclamation presented in recognition of Hilo Medical Center for the 2015 Davies Enterprise Award of Excellence.
Thank you Lee, your generous dedication and support, HIMSS continues to advance healthcare and lead change in the industry! Please join us in recognizing Lee Castonguay during the Annual Public Policy Breakfast on March 2, 2016, at the HIMSS16.
