During the closing session of the National Governors Association (NGA) annual summer meeting on July 16th, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe was named Chair of the National Governors Association. At the session, Gov. McAuliffe shared his 2016-2017 chair’s initiative, Meet the Threat: States Confront the Cyber Challenge, which places states at the center of finding solutions to the increasingly sophisticated cyber threats facing the nation. The initiative plans for states to develop strategies for strengthening cybersecurity practices as they relate to state IT networks, health care, education, public safety, energy, transportation, critical infrastructure, economic development and the workforce.
