HIMSS and PCHAlliance, along with Congressional Telehealth Caucus leaders and other healthcare organizations, are co-hosting a virtual rally to support continued telehealth access in the wake of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The Legislative Advocacy Kickoff with the Telehealth Caucus takes place at 9:30 a.m. ET July 23. Registration is open to the public.

HIMSS President & CEO Hal Wolf is slated to speak on solidifying the role telehealth will play in healthcare delivery, telehealth as the great equalizer in healthcare and the importance of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Rural Health Clinics (RHC).

This event highlights the “Protecting Access to Post-COVID-19 Telehealth Act of 2020” introduced by Congressional Telehealth Caucus leaders Reps. Mike Thompson (D-CA), David Schweikert (R-AZ), Peter Welch (D-VT), Bill Johnson (R-OH) and Doris Matsui (D-CA), who will attend the July 23 virtual kickoff.

The legislation would ensure all Medicare beneficiaries have continued access to telehealth services. HIMSS and PCHAlliance support the bipartisan bill.

While Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services acted quickly to implement waivers to allow for the reimbursement of telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic, seniors will lose access to this important care unless Congress again takes decisive action.
