Why should someone join the HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community?

It’s a good forum and platform for educating and progressing issues and challenges faced by the imaging community. Members are diverse within their specialty and the application of imaging in their practice. The breadth (and spectrum) of contribution is very broad, and this plays a significant part in the value to the greater community.

What does the community help members do?

It offers members a place to gain knowledge from peers and experts, and that information can be applied in their health systems. The community also provides a valuable opportunity to network collegially.

What is a collaboration you’re really proud of?

I’m a member and co-lead of the technical section for the HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community Multimedia Interactive Content Reporting Work Group. The work completed to date has been groundbreaking in demonstrating the wide-reaching use of imaging in clinical practice in healthcare. This collaborative work group has developed and will soon publish a consensus white paper; including multi-specialty enterprise imaging contributions from radiology, cardiology, dermatology, pathology, ophthalmology, endoscopy, radiation oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation.

If you could do anything for the rest of your life, what would that be?

What I am doing presently, which is progressing interoperability in healthcare information technology to breakdown silos and improve efficiency and workflows within healthcare.
