HIMSS17 Emerging Professionals Call for Proposals Poster Presentations Open
HIMSS invites you to submit a proposal to present a poster session at the 2017 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. The conference will be held Feb. 19 - 23. The Call for Proposals for a Poster Presentation will close on Oct. 24. Previous Emerging Professionals Poster Presenters are not eligible.

Big Data & Healthcare Analytics Forum Brings all Hospitals to Forefront
When it comes to standing up an analytics program that delivers results, healthcare providers and administrators are often intimidated by the size and scope of implementing a program. In this session, Karen Reff, the manager of decision support at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Georgia, will illustrate how it can be done at the Oct. 24-25 Big Data & Healthcare Analytics Forum in Boston. Register now.

HIMSS North America Nominating Committee Elections Open Oct. 14
Elections for the HIMSS North America Nominating Committee will open on Oct. 14, and will close on Nov. 14. The HIMSS North America Nominating Committee has created a slate of six qualified candidates. The membership will elect three of those candidates to the Nominating Committee. Each HIMSS member may cast one vote each for up to three different candidates for the Nominating Committee. Please follow the links below to view each candidate's bio. Bios on each of the six Nominating Committee candidates will be also be available beginning Oct. 14 on the ballot website.

HIMSS Raises Awareness of Changes in Healthcare
On Sept. 29, HIMSS participated
in Healthcare Access, a campaign that appeared in USA Today. Carla Smith, executive vice president, HIMSS North America, participated in an expert panel to discuss the current state of the field of healthcare. Learn more.

YourTurn at HIMSS17
YourTurn at HIMSS17 is a chance for you to lead the discussion! Is there a topic that you are passionate about, that you think others at HIMSS17 need to know about? These sessions will give you the chance to facilitate an open discussion session with your peers. The top proposals selected by a HIMSS team of reviewers will be posted on the HIMSS17 website and attendees will be asked to vote on the session they would like to attend at HIMSS17. The call for topics will be open Oct. 10 - 31 and can be found on the HIMSS17 website

EU*US eHealth Work Project Kick-Off Meeting in Hamburg, Germany
The HIMSS Foundation joins other members of the EU*US eHealth Work Consortium to address the need, development and deployment of workforce IT skills, competencies and training programs. This new 18-month project, spanning from Sep. 2016 to Feb. 2018, is being funded from the European Commission's Horizon 2020 research and innovation grant program, which awarded just under $600,000 dollars to the EU*US eHealth Work Consortium. Health Organizations Need More Holistic Internal Security
According to the second annual HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey, 87 percent of acute care providers and 81 percent of non-acute care providers reported making information security a higher priority than it was the previous year.
