Ten-Minute MACRA: What You Need To Know About the Proposed Rule
The Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) proposed rule represents a fundamental change in the way healthcare is paid for and is aimed at establishing the infrastructure for value-based reimbursement. These ten-minute, special report STEPS to Value episodes will provide high-level overviews for the key areas of the proposed rule and information on how you can participate in the HIMSS commenting process.
Ten-Minute MACRA- What is MACRA: This episode reviews the structure of the proposed rule, including its Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) component & its Alternative Payment Models (APM) component. We will also discuss the current programs rolled into the new regulation, and implications in the proposed rule for hospitals as well as clinicians.
Ten-Minute MACRA- Terms & Definitions: With the proposed rule comes a whole new set of acronyms, terms & definitions that you need to learn to better understand the actions proposed in the regulation. This episode will help you learn the new language of MACRA.
Ten-Minute MACRA- What is MIPS: A major component of MACRA’s proposed rule is the Merit-based Incentive Payment System, otherwise known as MIPS. This episode will provide an overview of that section of the proposed rule.

2016 Connected Health Conference Call for Presentations Open
Submit your proposal to speak at the 8th annual Connected Health Conference, formerly the mHealth Summit, brought to you by PCHA and shaped by our mission – achieving personal connected health for all. Deadline to submit is June 24.

Global Digital Health Forum now accepting speaking proposals
Co-located with the Connected Health Conference, the Forum brings together public and private sector organizations to share the latest evidence, experiences, and lessons learned on new applications and approaches in digital health. This two-day event is being co-presented by PCHA, Global Digital Health Network, and USAID. Deadline to submit is June 30.

Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum Call for Proposals
The Boston Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum, Oct. 24-25, is accepting speaker proposals. Proposals should focus on the role analytics can play in helping provider and payer organizations transition from volume-based to value-based healthcare. Presentations that clearly demonstrate how healthcare payers and providers are using data and analytics to improve and standardize clinical care, reduce costs, achieve population health, and make better strategic decisions for their organizations are a priority. HIE Sustainability Models Survey Results and Analysis
From the HIMSS HIE inPractice Task Force, the goal of the HIE Sustainability Models Survey was to aggregate the collective wisdom of HIE organizations that have achieved sustainability and distill it into a set of guidelines for the HIMSS HIE Community. With the goal of identifying high-value services and conveying guidance on how to implement those services, drive their adoption and quantify return on investment (ROI).

Call for Volunteers: HIMSS Alternative Payment Model (APM) Infrastructure Task Force
The HIMSS Healthcare Cost Accounting Survey was designed to check the pulse of provider readiness for making the transition from fee-for-service to pay-for-value and provide a better understanding of how the industry can help providers manage this major challenge. Responses to the survey indicate that although hospitals and provider organizations are willing to embrace value-based payment models, few believe their organization is prepared to do so.  Healthcare providers and delivery systems are looking to the industry to help them develop a consistent approach to the terminology/definitions and business processes and tools used to support these new payment models and to build the technical infrastructure necessary to facilitate the underlying activities. The HIMSS Alternative Payment Model (APM) Infrastructure Task Force will address these and other important issues related to the business side of administering APMs. We are looking for healthcare payer, provider, vendor and association professionals with direct cost-accounting, provider-payer contracting, quality reporting and revenue cycle management experience to join this effort. HIMSS HIE Measures and Enterprise Survey

Invitation to the NI2016 TIGER Workshop in Geneva, Switzerland
The international TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) community would like to invite you to share your expertise and knowledge with us during our nursing/interprofessional informatics education focused workshop at NI2016. Our workshop, Towards Implementing a Global Competency-Based Nursing and Clinical Informatics Curriculum: Applying the TIGER Initiative, will take place on Tuesday, June 28. During this event, we will present the results of our international core competency synthesis project. We will also discuss local, regional, national and international issues faced by clinicians today. This workshop is a part of the international TIGER activities to develop a framework for informatics core competencies, to derive recommendations for education, and finally, to show best practice examples on how to make use of these recommendations. Names of all workshop participants will be included into the recommendations to give credit for all contributions.  If you would like to participate in this workshop, please RSVP to Toria Shaw by Friday, June 10.
