HIMSS Partners on Two Letters to Respond to Physician Fee Schedule NPRM
The HIMSS/Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA) letter urges CMS to take every opportunity in the CY 2017 Physician Fee Schedule to promote robust, practitioner-patient use of proven information technology to improve health care delivery, including remote monitoring for chronic disease management, telehealth, and the digital delivery of health care and prevention services.

In addition, HIMSS was a signatory on another joint letter with 24 additional organizations on the Physician Fee Schedule NPRM. This comment letter also focused on the telehealth provisions in the proposed rule, and emphasized that the co-signers represent a wide-and growing-coalition of stakeholders that span the healthcare and technology sectors. These stakeholders all support the growing body of evidence that demonstrates the wide array of connected health technologies available today can improve patient care, reduce hospitalizations, help avoid complications, and improve patient engagement, particularly for the chronically ill.
