Congressional

Congress Moves on Federal Appropriations Bill
The FY15 Omnibus Appropriations bill includes funding for 11 of the 12 annual Appropriations bills (Agriculture; Commerce/Justice/Science; Defense; Energy and Water; Financial Services; Interior and Environment; Labor/Health and Human Services/Education; Legislative Branch; Military Construction/Veterans Affairs; State/Foreign Operations; and Transportation/Housing and Urban Development) through September 30, 2015. 

Congress Demands ONC Take Action on Electronic Health Records and Interoperability
The fiscal year 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill report  includes the language “instructed ONC to decertify EHRs products that proactively block the sharing of information.”

House of Representatives Leaders Issue Statement on ICD-10
December 10, 2014, the chairmen of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Rules Committee issued the following assertive joint statement on the nationwide implementation deadline for ICD-10.

ONC Releases Draft Federal Health IT Strategic Plan
On Monday, December 8, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) released the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan 2015-2020 in draft form.

Health IT Policy Committee Hears Reports on EHR Attestations and Interoperability Recommendations
Including reports from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on the 2014 EHR Incentive Program attestation numbers and draft recommendations from the Interoperability Workgroup on what it would like to put forward for inclusion in the Interoperability Roadmap Version 1.0,

CMS Extends EHR Attestation Deadline for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program for Eligible Hospitals to December 31, 2014
A press release from the Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) states that the agency is extending the deadline for eligible hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) to attest to meaningful use for the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program 2014 reporting year from 11:59 pm EST on November 30, 2014 to 11:59 pm EST on December 31, 2014.
