HIMSS Participates in National Health Sector Cybersecurity Event
The event brought together Members from both the House and Senate, Administration officials, senior level staff, and thought leaders from the private sector to discuss the most critical cybersecurity issues facing the healthcare industry. 

Recap of Institute for e-Health Policy briefing on DoD, VA Interoperability
This is the second briefing held by the Institute in recent weeks on the topic of interoperability and focused specifically on the Department of Defense Military Health System and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Health Administration.

Senate HELP Committee to Hold Hearing on Health Information Exchange
On Wednesday, June 10th, the Senate Committee Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) is scheduled to hold a hearing titled “Health Information Exchange: A Path Toward Improving the Quality and Value of Health Care for Patients.”

CMS Publishes Final ACO Rule
This rule is an effort to encourage the delivery of high-quality care for Medicare beneficiaries and build on the early successes of the program and of the Pioneer ACO Model.

HITPC Workgroup Holds 2-Day Hearing Focused on How Health IT is Supporting Delivery System Reform
The public hearing featured three panels that focused on: how data is integrated across service delivery to support health for individuals; success stories on exchanging information across the continuum in support of interventions that focus on preventive care and wellness support for whole health and wellness for the individual; and, integrating care for individuals with complex, chronic conditions.

Health Datapalooza 2015 Continues to Focus on Access to Health Data
Organizers hope that exploring policies, standards, practices and collaborations will enable data sharing across the health system and enable stakeholders to overcome barriers to realize the full potential of health data and how it is an important step towards a patient-centered health system.

CMS makes 2014 eCQMs Updates for 2016 Reporting
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) announced that the 2015 annual updates for the 2014 electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) are available in the electronic Clinical Quality Improvement (eCQI) Resource Center, located on the healthit.gov website.

2015 mHealth Summit Call for Presentations Closes Monday
Submissions for the mHealth Summit and Global mHealth Forum are required by Monday, June 8. Presentations are sought on topics of domestic and international regulations, legislation and advocacy.

AHRQ Heart Health Grants Help With EHR Use
The announcement is aligned with the Departments Million Hearts national initiative to prevent heart attacks and stroke.

Governor McAuliffe Announces New Virginia Chief Information Officer
On May 26, 2015 Governor Terry McAuliffe announced Nelson Moe as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

HIMSS Asks for a Reduction in Program Complexity in Comments on 2015 Edition Health IT Certification Criteria NPRM
In comments submitted to Dr. Karen DeSalvo, National Coordinator for Health IT, on the 2015 Edition Health Information Technology (Health IT) Certification Criteria Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) thanked the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for the opportunity to work with its diverse membership to develop a coherent response to the 2015 edition certification criteria.

HIMSS Submits Comments on CMS Meaningful Use Stage 3 NPRM
In a May 28th letter to Andrew Slavitt, the Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), HIMSS submitted its final comments in response to CMSs Meaningful Use Stage 3 Notice for Proposed Rule Making (NPRM).
