Supreme Court Upholds Affordable Care Act Subsidies
The decision by the court avoids what would have been a contentious debate between Congress and the White House on how to fix the overhaul of the new health insurance exchange system. 

HIMSS Submits Comments to Senate Finance Committee on Improving Chronic Care
The working group, comprised of members of the full Finance Committee, was tasked with analyzing current law, discussing alternative policy options and developing bipartisan legislative solutions to increase care coordination, incentivize appropriate levels of care, improve outcomes and reduce spending for Medicare beneficiaries with chronic conditions.

HIMSS Joins Coalition Letter to Senate Finance Committee on Telehealth
The group encouraged the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to use its authority to expand reimbursement for telehealth services. 

Senate Finance Committee Passes Electronic Health Fairness Act
The bill was authored by Republican Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Senator Michael Bennett (D-CO) and would remove services performed in ambulatory surgical centers (ASC)  from being counted toward the 50 percent patient encounters eligibility threshold for eligible professionals until the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) develops certified EHR technology (CEHRT) applicable to ASCs.

HIMSS Co-Signs letter Opposing Elimination of AHRQ Funding
AHRQ provides essential sources of data that support efforts to improve quality and reduce cost in the nation’s health care system.

Key Findings from the ONC report on Six-State Review on Provider Experiences with HIE
The study a variety of input from providers, as well as the vendors that work closely with them, in order to gauge the provider perspective on State HIE programs and electronic exchange in general.

Health IT Standards Committee Says Goodbye to Departing Members, Discusses Workgroup Recommendations
The committee heard from Karen DeSalvo, National Coordinator and Jon White, M.D., Acting Deputy National Coordinator, who recognized the 10 members completing their term with HITSC this month including Dixie Baker, Anne Castro, Jeremy Delinsky, John Derr, C. Martin Harris, Stanley Huff, Liz Johnson, David McCallie, Jr., Jonathan Perlin, and Sharon Terry.
