21st Century Cures Act Approved by House
On Friday, July 10th, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the 21st Century Cures Act by a 344-77 vote

Health IT Policy Committee reviews IPPS NPRM, Advanced Health Models, Big Data
On Tuesday, June 30, the Health IT Policy Committee, a Federal Advisory Committee to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), convened for a virtual meeting.

CMS Offers Flexibility in Transition to ICD-10
The agency will not deny doctors payments they didn’t used a specific enough ICD-10 code for one year after the new code set is implemented in October.

AHRQ Study Finds Implementing HIT-Enabled Care Coordination Creates Mixed Impact on Workflow in Ambulatory Care Settings
Results found a great deal of variation on the impact in care coordination arising from the use of MHT tools, depending on the specific task, technology, user, and use of HIT within the MHTAV program.

Dr. David Shulkin and LaVerne Horton Council confirmed as new U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Leaders
The Senate confirmed two new U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) leaders; Dr. David Shulkin as the Under Secretary for Health and Ms. LaVerne Horton Council who will serve as Assistant Secretary for Information Technology.

Massachusetts works towards improved exchange of health information with new grant program
The program has completed their first tier of pre-applications with selected applicants invited to participate in full applications due August 20.

Iowa is 10th State to Join Interstate Medical Licensure CompactThe Compact was initiated by the Federation of State Medical Boards as a way to streamline the licensing process for physicians and increase care access to underserved areas through the use of telemedicine.
