Senate HELP Committee Releases Bipartisan Draft Health IT Legislation
On January 21st, Senate HELP Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) released the first piece in the long-awaited Senate medical innovations legislation.

CMS, ONC Continue Discussing Future of Meaningful Use Program-Highlight Principles Around Future Action of MACRA Implementation
In light of comments last week from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt on Meaningful Use as a component of the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Mr. Slavitt and Karen DeSalvo, MD—National Coordinator for Health IT—prepared a January 19th blog post that included the guiding principles of how the Meaningful Use Program will fit in with MACRA implementation.

HIMSS and PCHA Offer Comments on AHRQ Telehealth Report
This report was a result of calls from Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL) and John Thune (R-SD), who in responding to a group of HIMSS led healthcare stakeholders in December 2014, that asked for AHRQ to review "the value of telehealth and remote patient monitoring, particularly for the chronically ill, with a focus on expanding access to care and reducing costs."
