Spok: Hospital for Special Surgery Case Study

When Hurricane Sandy hit New York City in 2012, the severity of the storm and possible flooding from the nearby East River was cause for great concern at the Hospital for Special Surgery: The basement housed the hospital’s communication headquarters, including the operator bank and the building alarm system. Staff knew they needed to find a way to make their communication systems more portable and flexible.  With the help of Spok, they've since made significant changes to the way they manage alarms and have improved the response time to 12 critical events.
