Position Statement on Adopting Technology for Meaningful Use of Health IT Background

Beginning with the Administration of George W. Bush, and continuing with the Administration of Barack Obama, there has been consistent federal leadership in enabling the widespread adoption and meaningful use of health IT to transform care in our nation. The goal of both Administrations has been to improve both patient care outcomes, and the cost-efficiency of that care.

Baptist Princeton Medical Center's hand-washing monitor system called model for nation

An electronic monitoring system Baptist Princeton Medical Center set up last year increased hand-washing by more than 850 percent and reduced hospital-acquired infections by 22 percent in the area it was used, according to a study Baptist has produced on the project.
The project will be recognized today by a national health care information technology organization, which called it a nationwide model.
